CVR

How to look up a Danish CVR number

Every firm on these lists is tied to a CVR-nummer, the number in the Danish business register kept by Erhvervsstyrelsen. The register search is datacvr.virk.dk. The English lists use the same numbers as the Danish profiles. The collection date on each row is the date this catalogue stored that row, 18 September 2026 unless the row says otherwise.

What to compare

Open the Danish profile from the list, copy the eight-digit CVR, and paste it into the register search. The name and the address should be the same firm you are about to pay. A trading name on the van can differ from the registered name. Pay the name that is on the CVR and on the invoice.

The register shows that a business exists. It does not show that the work will be good, and it does not show debts to SKAT. This catalogue does not check tax debt. That limit is also written on the Danish data-sources page.

On the invoice

Ask for the CVR on the faktura. If the number on the invoice is a different company from the number on the profile, stop and ask why before you transfer money. A sole trader’s name and phone can be personal data. The profile still shows them because they are in the public register or on the firm’s own site.

Authorisation for electrical and plumbing work is a second lookup, not a field inside CVR. Use the authorisation page for those two trades.
